Q: What can I do to help?
Juniors is all about family and participation - each team needs to provide an umpire, coach, manager, and scorer. Training in these roles is provided by the club or association.
ALL Coaches MUST have or undertake National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) General Coaching Principles.

The Club Committee facilitates management aspects of the Club. This includes many hours behinds the scenes working with council, the association, and others to make sure baseball can be played each season. Running the teams, ground set up, canteen, cleaning, etc are necessary tasks that need to be shared by players, parents, and supporters.

Q: When is the baseball season?
Summer baseball season starts around the middle of September. It finishes around mid-March; dates depending on any finals series.

Q: When is training?
Training is held during the week after school for juniors and late evening for seniors. It will be a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
The team coach will set the day and time once the teams have been made up. Pre-live-ball normally train before 6 pm

Q: Which day is baseball played on?
A: The juniors play most of their games on Saturday mornings. Starting time slots run between 8.30 am and 11.00 am and vary from ground to ground depending on the number of diamonds and teams scheduled to play.
Most A-Grade games in U12, U14, and U16 games are played on Friday evenings.
Seniors play most of their games on Saturday or Sunday afternoons with an occasional Saturday night in some grades.

Q: How long are the games?
A: The games range from 1 hour for T-Ball, progressively increasing to 2 hours for older juniors and senior teams. There is normally a 30-minute warmup for live ball teams.

Q: How far do you have to travel?
Juniors play in the Ryde Hawks Baseball League. The 7, 8, 9, and 10-year-old teams generally play in the south zone - Five Dock, Concord, and Macquarie.
As the children get older, teams may need to travel to clubs out of the area including Hornsby.

Q: What gear/equipment do I need?
The uniform consists of:
Shirt, Pants, Socks, Shoes, Belt, Cap.
Subject to availability T-Ball grades will be loaned pants for the season.
For the safety of the children, shoes need to have a molded plastic sole with studs, eg soccer boots once the children progress past T-Ball
Specific baseball boots can be bought, but are not required.
ALL Players from Zooka onward MUST wear a protector.
Gloves are provided in the kits for T-Ball only. After that children need to have their own baseball glove. (Your coach will provide some advice)
Each team is supplied with a ‘team kit’ which consists of bats (2 or 3), batting helmets, catcher’s gear, balls, and other equipment as required.
